Allow me to introduce myself…

I am a mother of two, and I remember well how busy life can be with a young family. Now, as daughter to an aging parent, life is just as busy – only in a different way!

In balancing work, family responsibilities, and children’s school and extracurricular activities, we often push aside important things we should be doing. Ensuring our spouse, common-law partner, and children are protected when faced with certain life events, or that our businesses have continuity or succession plans in place in not always a priority.

In fact, many parents I meet have not prepared a Will or legally named a guardian for their minor children. The reasons vary, but it’s often a combination of the following:

  • not wanting to think about an emotionally painful subject;
  • lacking the time and energy to get it done;
  • not thinking that life circumstances are unpredictable;
  • fearing that the services of a lawyer will simply cost too much;
  • assuming they don’t have an “estate” worth planning, or
  • that their families or someone will take care of everything if ever it becomes necessary. .

The same is true for many business owners and entrepreneurs, who haven’t made plans for what should happen if something were to happen to them. They often believe that:

  • their business will simply continue on its own without a clear plan in place;
  • someone will automatically step in to manage things and take over, without considering the legal and financial complexities;
  • it’s something they can deal with later, without realizing how quickly unexpected events can disrupt their operations;
  • their family or employees will automatically know what to do, but without proper documentation, this can lead to confusion and conflict.

From personal experience, I understand the unique legal needs of families and business owners, as well as the importance of being prepared when the unthinkable happens. I know that all parents, regardless of their net worth, need comprehensive estate planning to ensure their wishes are followed and their families are protected. Similarly, business owners and entrepreneurs must plan for the future of their businesses, ensuring smooth transitions, continuity, and protection for both their company and employees in the event of incapacity or death.

At the heart of my practice is a genuine passion for helping individuals, families, entrepreneurs and business owners navigate legal challenges or issues with confidence and clarity. Whether you're planning for your future or the future of your children, handling family or business transitions, or simply want to be prepared for the unexpected, I find great fulfillment in providing solutions that help my clients to move forward with peace of mind.

I also understand the time and financial constraints families and businesses face. That’s why my web-based practice allows clients to communicate with me whenever it’s most convenient for them. I also believe in being transparent and straightforward. That’s why most of my service fees are posted, allowing clients to make informed decisions without any surprises.

As for my qualifications, I earned my Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université de Moncton, graduating with honors in 1992. This was to be followed by a law degree, but life had other plans. After starting a family, managing businesses and working as a civil servant, I realized that something was missing. Armed with courage and a firm belief that it is never too late to go after our dreams, I earned my Law Degree (Juris Doctor) in 2021. I was called to the bar in 2022 and am licensed to practice law in New Brunswick.

You can find my credentials by visiting the Law Society of New Brunswick’s website, as well as my LinkedIn profile. Client Testimonials can be read on my website.
